Education Minister highlights the role of technology in boosting Karachi’s productivity

Federal Education Minister, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, emphasized that cities like Karachi, with their large populations, can significantly increase productivity through good technological investments. This was highlighted on Thursday during a meeting with a high-level delegation led by Kevin Kells, Managing Director of Google for Education.

The delegation included key figures such as Farhan Qureshi, Country Director of Google Pakistan, Aron Saether Jackson, CEO of Allied, and Umar Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley, among other senior officials of Google. Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, led by Education Minister Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, also attended the meeting.

Focus on Transforming Pakistan’s Education System

Dr. Siddiqui welcomed the diverse Google delegation, which included officials from seven different countries, including the US, UK and Australia. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to transform Pakistan’s entire education system by addressing the large number of out-of-school children and its negative social impact. The federal minister emphasized that this crisis has become a priority under his leadership.

Leveraging Google’s Expertise

Dr. Siddiqui said the delegation’s expertise and knowledge could help shape future plans to address these education challenges. He urged Google to expand its scope in Pakistan, especially in the education sector. The Federal Minister assured the delegation of full support from the Ministry of Education and emphasized the crucial role of technology in bridging the significant resource gaps.

Technological Investments for Productivity and Growth

The minister emphasized that Pakistan is at a critical juncture where all efforts need to be properly focused. He emphasized that as technology companies expand their presence in Pakistan, it will lead to greater development, growth and investment, which is urgently needed. Dr. Siddiqui reiterated his commitment to increasing the skilled workforce in Pakistan, emphasizing that with the right technological investments, cities like Karachi can see a substantial increase in productivity.

Collaborative Efforts for Educational Advancement

Dr. Siddiqui assured the delegation of full support from his office and acknowledged that technological advancement is essential to solving Pakistan’s education crisis. He expressed his gratitude to the delegation and hoped for the rapid implementation of the short, medium and long-term investment plans.

The meeting marked an important step towards integrating technology into Pakistan’s education system, with the aim of increasing productivity and addressing critical education challenges.
