Are you passionate about sustainability and looking for a research opportunity that directly impacts the future of Manufacturing Engineering? Join the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark and Grundfos A/S in an exciting PhD Fellowship that aims to revolutionize metal forming methodologies.
Application Deadline: September 15, 2024
Workplace: Hybrid Position
Job Location: Bjerringbro, Midtjylland, Denmark
Contract Type: Full-Time
Employment Type: Regular
About the Position
The PhD project focuses on transforming current metal forming practices by minimizing environmental impact, particularly by eliminating the need for forming lubricants and the subsequent energy-intensive cleaning processes. This innovative approach will help create more sustainable manufacturing processes, aligning with the global shift towards greener technologies.
As an Industrial PhD Student, you will collaborate with a skilled team in Grundfos’ Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department. This team specializes in developing new and sustainable technologies for metal forming, with a strong focus on tool design, numerical process simulation, tribology testing, and more. Your research will include numerical simulations, testing, and implementing new strategies to reduce wear, friction, and environmental impact.
Your Profile
We are seeking a motivated researcher with a strong academic background, particularly in mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field. Ideal candidates will have experience with numerical simulations (e.g., FEM) and a good understanding of metal forming processes. Experimental work experience is also beneficial.
You should hold a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or an equivalent qualification. A willingness to work independently, under supervision, and a passion for contributing to sustainable engineering solutions are essential.
Benefits
At Grundfos, we support continuous learning and career development. You’ll be part of an inclusive and dynamic work environment that values collaboration and innovation. We offer:
- Flexible working hours and additional paid leave for volunteering
- Annual bonuses, health insurance, parental support, and access to wellness programs
- Access to the Grundfos Academy for personal and professional development
